MOZONE
CASTLE: SERRAVALLE
He came to painting almost by accident, guided by innate talent from childhood and always self-taught: first through technical studies, later through graphic and artistic ones, with drawing as his constant anchor. He encountered graffiti in his teens in the early 1990s, seeing tags and “pieces” by the old-school Rimini scene, the broader Italian movement, and at major conventions of the era—something like a first love.
Since then he has followed a personal path that began with writing—bombing, lettering, and characters—and has, over time, naturally absorbed illustration, graphic design, and analogue photography.
Mozone’s preferred subjects recall classic Italian and French comics, the heyday of 1970s–80s Japanese cartoons, vintage cars, B-movies, subcultures, improbable scenarios, and distinctive characters. His works are not conceptual but direct—neither pop art yet unmistakably recognizable—with a vein that is sometimes ironic, sometimes cynical.
Thanks to his links with other artists on the Italian and European scene, he has taken part in numerous conventions, events, fairs, and internationally oriented exhibitions devoted to graffiti and to urban and contemporary art, both in Italy and abroad. He is a member of artistic collectives in Italy (Rimini, Milan) and in France (Bordeaux). He serves as president of the cultural association Artai for urban art and collaborates with urban-art and cultural magazines.
He divides his time between graphic design, urban art, and music.
